If you cannot trade a product in MetaTrader, check that you are logged in with trading access, have selected a tradable symbol, and are trading during the product’s available hours. Your account must also have enough funds for the required margin, and your order size must meet the product’s volume limits.
Check your login
If MetaTrader shows “Invalid account,” check your trading account number, password, and server.
If New Order is greyed out or unavailable, make sure you have logged in successfully using your trading password. An investor password provides read-only access and cannot be used to place trades.
Check the product symbol
- Right-click inside Market Watch and select Show All to display the available products.
- For forex pairs, gold, silver, or oil, look for the tradable symbol with the applicable suffix.
Greyed-out forex pairs without a suffix are generally displayed as reference exchange rates and cannot be traded.
Check trading hours and order requirements
Right-click the product in Market Watch and select Specification. Check its trading hours and volume limits. If the market is open, make sure your order size is within those limits and your account has enough funds to cover the required margin.
If you still cannot place the trade, contact Customer Support with your trading account number, the product symbol, and any error message shown in MetaTrader.
