Which Events Trigger a Reduction
- USD-related news: FOMC interest rate decisions, CPI, PMI, NMI, PPI, GDP, PCE, Retail Sales, NFP (Non-Farm Payrolls), ADP (Private Payrolls).
- Oil-related news: Crude Oil Inventories.
- Other countries’ news: Major economic data such as CPI, PMI, GDP from non-US countries.
Why It Happens
Important Conditions
- It applies to the account, not to individual positions. Nothing is closed, resized or altered.
- Applies only to newly opened positions. The reduced leverage applies when opening new positions during the affected period. This means new trades may require more margin than under your normal leverage.
- Existing positions are not affected. Positions opened before the leverage reduction will not be automatically closed, resized, or have their leverage changed.
- Your account setting is unchanged. The leverage shown in your account stays the same; what changes is the leverage applied during the scheduled time window.
- Leverage automatically restores. Once the affected period ends, the original leverage setting will automatically resume.
