What Determines Your Leverage Limit?
- The product. Indices, shares and cryptocurrencies each have their own maximum, usually lower than the account maximum. The product limit applies where it is lower.
- Account equity: Leverage may be reduced automatically when your equity reaches certain thresholds.
- Market conditions. Leverage may be reduced temporarily around high-impact news, market holidays and weekends.
Leverage Tiers Based on Account Equity
Account equity | Maximum leverage |
|---|---|
≤ $20,000 | 1:2000 |
> $20,000 to $30,000 | 1:1000 |
> $30,000 | 1:500 |
How to Check Your Current Leverage
Important Conditions
- Leverage applies to the whole trading account, not to a single trade.
- The product-level limit always applies where it is lower than your account limit. Check the order window before trading a product for the first time.
- Leverage may be reduced without prior notice during unusual market volatility.
- Using the maximum available leverage is not a requirement. You can trade smaller positions at any leverage setting.
